Pasta Al Tonno

🍝 Bougie on a Budget: groceries are crazy expensive right now and I want you to still eat good while saving that money. So I’m making Pasta Al Tonno using things you might already have in the pantry! This meal comes out to about $2 per servings and tastes as good as pasta from a restaurant.

1 cup cherry tomatoes

4 garlic cloves

1 tbsp olive oil

1 can tuna in olive oil

Pinch of red chili flakes

2 tbsp marinara sauce

1 tbsp fish sauce

¼ cup pasta water

8oz rigatoni, cooked

Basil

Parmesan

  1. Chop cherry tomatoes and set aside.

  2. Cook pasta according to packaged instructions and set aside. Reserve some pasta water as well.

  3. Now to get cooking, we’ll drizzle in a couple tablespoons of olive oil, add some crushed garlic, and our cherry tomatoes. I’ll let them sizzle up and cook for a few minutes and then we’ll add our canned tuna, some chili flakes if you want it spicy, your favorite marinara, and some fish sauce.

  4. Add a little bit of pasta water and your cooked pasta. I’m using rigatoni this time because the tuna gets into the tube and you get everything in one bite. Let it all simmer for a few minutes and then we plate. Sprinkle it with some fresh basil and parmesan. Enjoy!
